February 14th is a day to express love and appreciation to the important people in our lives which usually includes friends and relatives. On this day people in Finland celebrate Ystavanpaiva, which is translated as Friend’s Day. In Mexico, it is called the Dia del amor y la amistad, the day of love and friendship. While in North America it’s Valentine’s Day. It brings us back to our school days when we crafted special valentines for our classmates. From “rocket” butterflies to “sixlet” caterpillars we had so much fun in the making and giving of our special treats!
Today commemorates A.A. Milne’s birthday (January 18, 1882). His writings about the lovable Pooh Bear were inspired by a black bear named Winnie who lived at the London Zoo during World War I. We love Winnie the Pooh’s wisdom!
“It isn’t much good having anything exciting, if you can’t share it with somebody. It’s so much more friendly with two.” – Pooh Bear
